inter vs. napoli 3-1

Italian champions Inter move top of the Serie A table with a first-half display of attacking football against Napoli.

Samuel Eto'o and Diego Milito had the Azzurri in all sorts of trouble with goals in the opening five minutes.

Lucio opened his scoring account for the Nerazzurri to seemingly kill off the encounter shortly after the half-hour, but Ezequiel Lavezzi pulled one back ten minutes the break.

Inter, whose second half form won them the games against Parma and Cagliari, handed out a lesson in sprint starts to the Neapolitans.

Eto'o gave Inter the best possible start, prodding home from close range in the third minute after De Sanctis fumbled Samuel's header from a corner.

Cambiasso defends Mourinho PDF Print E-mail
Written by Admin Izzle

Cambiasso defends Jose Mourinho's sending off against Cagliari on Sunday.

He told reporter, “"The boss has his personality and this is why he is loved and hated by many. His ban obviously makes news because he's a winning coach who has no problems saying what he thinks, but in these last few days a lot less has been said about Thiago Motta's injury than Mourinho's suspension”

Mourinho will serve one game banned because of the sending off.

"The boss will be able to do his work with us, whereas Thiago Motta won't be able to give his contribution to the team for a while.''

Cambiasso also complained about the tight schedule that might affect player’s fatique.

“It is a tour de force because we are playing every three days with all the consequences in terms of physical and psychological tiredness,”

"Last Sunday's match was probably the most difficult because we faced Cagliari after the very tiring match against Barcelona.” He added.

Inter will host Napoli this evening, but Cambiasso will likely rest  due to knee injury.

Moratti:"refree should have stopped the match". PDF Print E-mail
Written by Admin Izzle

moratti interviewPresident Moratti complained that the match against Cagliari on Sunday should have been stopped because of racial abuse again’st balotelli.

In Italy, rules will be enforced if police agree there were racial slurs throw against the player. But the referee did nothing.

"The referee should have stopped the match because of the racist chants towards Balotelli," Said Moratti to the reporter.

Then he commented that he was surprised about Mourinho sending off because Moratti thinks what he did was right.

Moratti commented that Mourinho was 'outspoken' and has a 'lively character'

Moratti also added, "On the basis of what I've been told, Mourinho definitely didn't insult the referee and we didn't expect this type of sanction,"

"I wouldn't want his lively character to be confused with aggressive behaviour."

During the interview Moratti also denied that Inter is closed in signing Samprodia, Antonio Cassano.

Cagliari vs. Inter player rating PDF Print E-mail
Written by Admin Izzle

Player rating produce by Carlo Garganese of goal.com from 2-1 Inter vs. Cagliari

Marchetti: 6 - Aside from pick the ball out of his net twice, Marchetti had very few saves to make. Blameless on both of Milito's strikes.

Marzoratti: 6.5 - Relatively steady down the right hand side. Did not have too much defending to do on his flank.

Astori: 6.5 - Confident display from the youngster, although he let Milito get away for the second goal.
Julio Cesar: 7.5 - Saved his side on a number of occasions, as Inter got out of jail today.

Maicon: 5 - Very shaky display from the Brazilian, who conceded the penalty and really struggled against Matri and Cossu. Didn't seem up for the game at all.

Cordoba: 6 - Good pace at the back, but clearly Cordoba's best days are behind him. Inter look far safer with Samuel or Chivu at centre back.

Lucio: 6.5 - A couple of crucial interceptions, but Lucio always looked like he was really fighting to keep up with the Cagliari attacks.

Santon: 5.5 - Endured a number of problems in the first half against the tricky Cossu and Jeda, and was replaced at half time.

Zanetti: 7 - Led by example, and kept his head while those around him were starting to panic when Cagliari threatened to run away with the game.

Cambiasso: 5.5 - Clearly wasn't fully fit after his long injury lay-off and was hooked at the interval after a difficult 45 minutes.

Inter came back from behind and won 2-1 PDF Print E-mail
Written by Admin Izzle
milito is goodDiego Milito celebrated his 100th match for Italian clubs with two goals in five second half minutes as Inter stunned Cagliari at the Stadio Sant'Elia.

On the back foot after Jeda's penalty in the 15th minute, the Nerazzurri were survived a series of scares before Il Principe popped up with two typical finishes.

Inter were made to suffer and sweat as the hosts battled hard for a point right until the final whistle.

Mourinho rested Samuel, Chivu and Thiago Motta for the Serie A Week 4 clash, recalling Cordoba and Santon in defence and handing Cambiasso his first start since sustaining a knee injury in mid-August.

Inter got the game under way after a minute's applause in memory of the six Italian soldiers who lost their lives in Afghanistan last week.

Dejan Stankovic was presented with the first real chance on 6 minutes, getting into a shooting position before sending his swerveshot just over.

Cagliari did better with theirs in the 16th, Jeda sending Julio Cesar the wrong way from the penalty spot after a foul in the box by Maicon on Matri.

Inter vs. Barcelona player rating PDF Print E-mail
Written by Admin Izzle

This is a player rating of Inter vs. Barcelona according to Carlo Garganese of Goal.com.

Julio Cesar: 6.5 - Despite Barca's dominance for long stretches of the game, did not have too many saves to make. A couple of smart stops from Messi.

Maicon: 6 - Was pushed back by Henry, and couldn't make too many of his trademark bursts down the right flank.

Samuel: 8 - Lived up to his nickname as 'The Wall' with a no-nonsense performance at the back. How does Samuel not get into the Argentina 'defence'?

Lucio: 6.5 - Struggled in a few one-on-ones and was caught out for Ibrahimovic's early chance, but largely did well.

Chivu: 9 - Absolutely outstanding tonight. Made three goal-saving tackles - two on Messi and one on Henry - forced Messi inside, and did the best defensive job that anyone has ever done on Dani Alves. Man-of-the-match.

Zanetti: 6.5 - Ran his heart out, but almost acted as a fifth defender at times as Barcelona controlled the play.

Muntari: 4.5 - Comfortably the worst player on the pitch. Muntari lost the ball time after time in the first half, repeatedly putting his side into trouble.

Thiago Motta: 5.5
- Little impact - Inter need more from the Brazilian if they are to move onto the next level in Europe this term.

Sneijder: 6 - Had a few smart moments, including one shot that fizzed just wide, but in truth just couldn't get hold of the ball.

Eto'o: 5 - Very disappointing. Received next to no service, but did little himself to try and make things happen.

Milito: 7 - A very commendable performance from 'El Principe' who, despite being overwhelmingly outnumbered, was always a handful for the Barcelona defence.

Julio Cesar: 6.5 - Despite Barca's dominance for long stretches of the game, did not have too many saves to make. A couple of smart stops from Messi.

Maicon: 6 - Was pushed back by Henry, and couldn't make too many of his trademark bursts down the right flank.

Stankovic: 6.5 - Did well after coming on and fired just over.

Santon: 6.5 - Very energetic cameo.

Balotelli: N/A

BARCELONA (4-3-3)

Valdes
: 6 - Barely touched the ball tonight.

Dani Alves: 6 - Had little to do defensively, but did not make any headway going forward against the superb Chivu.

Pique: 6.5 - A little flat-footed against Milito on a couple of occasions, but otherwise okay.

Puyol: 7.5 - Very spirited display, Puyol led by example and comfortably won his duel against Eto'o.

Abidal: 6.5 - One shaky moment in the first half when he gave the ball away, this aside Abidal was comfortable as Maicon rarely troubled him.

Toure: 7.5 - Dominant in the defensive midfield role, the major reason Sneijder couldn't get into the game was because of Toure.

Xavi: 8.5 - Quite simply the best centre midfielder in the world. Three genius passes that could have led to Ibrahimovic goals. Dictated the game.

Keita: 6 - The Malian was guilty for the miss of the match as he somehow scuffed wide with the goal gaping. Powerful, but sometimes sloppy.

Messi: 7.5 - An absolute joy to watch. Cut inside a great deal, and caused Inter all kinds of headaches but had nothing to show for it at the end. One glaring miss he will want to forget.

Ibrahimovic: 6 - A few nice link-ups and flicks, but was not clinical enough. Could have had a hat-trick tonight, and will particularly regret his first half miss.

Henry: 7 - Always looked dangerous down the left, and skinned Lucio on one occasion. Created a glorious chance for Messi. A good showing.

Substitutes

Iniesta: N/A
